If you wish to venture away from the glorious countryside, you are only a 40 minute drive south to the city of Newcastle upon Tyne, with a wealth of shops, theatres and the famous Quayside with it’s many bridges, the Baltic Art Gallery and The Sage Gateshead – a live music venue and centre for music education. Across the river Tyne in Gateshead, the Metro Centre is Europe’s largest shopping mall.
Approximately one and a half hours north of Alnmouth, lies the Scottish border, known by Northumbrians and Scots, as The Borders. It was the Northumbrian King Edwin who gave Scotland’s capital it’s name - Edinburgh – truly one of the most beautiful capitals in the world, and also well worth a visit.
Northumbria has a wealth of history attached to it, with many castles, country estates, endless white beaches, national parks and gardens too numerous to list, but leaflets on some of these can be found in the cottage, for you to plan your days out.
Alternatively, enjoy the views from where you are and simply relax!
We sincerely hope you have a wonderful break here in Alnmouth, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the very near future!
